Cox Cable raising rates in Hampton

Our friendly neighborhood Cox is raising their prices by 5%. This article was posted Sept. 2 in the Virginian-Pilot. From the article:

"Cox Communications Inc. plans to raise rates by 5 percent for its most popular cable television package, citing ever-steeper fuel prices and programming costs.

The price of the package known as standard cable, which combines the Limited Service tier of mostly local network channels with Expanded Service, will increase from $41.29 to $43.35 per month. The change is the largest annual leap since 2002 and takes effect Oct. 1, more than a month earlier than it did last year."

Knew someone who worked for them, and claimed they refer to their own customers behind closed doors as "Cox-suckers."

Well, I bailed on their telephone service and went with Vonage. Saved me almost 70 bucks a month. I still have their internet and cable tv service and I'm on the verge of bailing those too.
